Wellness Clinics
Clinics bring free wellness services directly to older adults in the City and County of Pueblo for easier, more consistent access to regular healthcare. Clinics are conveniently located within Pueblo Housing Authority sites or in neighborhood community centers and offer a trusted, safe, dependable resource for our clients to assist them in living healthier more independent lives.
Seniors want to be able to “age in place,” but they often face chronic health conditions that make it difficult to do so. For low-income seniors, it can be even harder due to limited access to health care or lack of important family or other social support.
Pueblo StepUp offers eleven free, monthly wellness clinics for seniors, bringing them directly to the people who need them most. At each wellness clinic, teams of dedicated, caring volunteer health professionals screen clients for basic health indicators and offer health education and follow-up referrals. Careful records are kept for all clients, so that medical changes can be spotted quickly.
Perhaps most importantly, our volunteers have the time to listen to their clients’ healthcare concerns as well as other issues about their general health and well-being. Our volunteers’ concern for their clients’ welfare means more than just monitoring the physical body, it means caring about the whole person—body, mind and soul.
